Be the first to join a brand-new educational series from Paradox Opera!

Auditioning and preparing for auditions can be a nerve-wracking experience. How do you put your best foot forward as a performing artist when there’s so little time and so much pressure? Auditioning is a skill—and like any skill, confidence comes with practice. Whether you're preparing for your first audition or looking to refine your presentation, this interactive class is designed to help you put your best artistry forward.

Singers and observers are both welcome! Singers will participate in a live mock audition and receive personalized feedback from creative director and soprano Alissa Roca and singer and voice teacher Christopher Fotis. Not ready to audition? Join as an observer and gain valuable insight by watching the coaching process, learning what works, and hearing feedback that applies to every performer.

What to Expect

  • A brief introduction to audition techniques and best practices.

  • Five singers will each present one selection (a full song or a 32-bar cut for musical theatre) from memory with accompaniment, just as they would in a real audition.

  • Each singer will receive live feedback and coaching from the panel.

  • We'll conclude with an open Q&A where both participants and observers can ask questions about auditioning, repertoire, preparation, and the industry.

Whether you're stepping into the audition room or watching from the audience, you'll leave with practical tools, greater confidence, and a deeper understanding of what makes a successful audition.
