In an age where global interconnectedness prevails, our society remains fragmented by fear, violence, and hatred. In the midst of the overwhelming influx of online information, many find it all too easy to simply look the other way. Yet, true progress can only be made when we confront injustice head-on and earnestly lend an ear to the narratives and needs of our neighbors. In BLANK, we aim to urge our audience to truly listen to the profound words of Langston Hughes and Bob Dylan, beautifully interpreted by Ricky Ian Gordon and John Corigliano, respectively. We ask you the questions “Which way to go?... Which sin to bear?” “Can you love a monster of frightening name?” “How many ears must one man have before he can hear people cry? Yes, ‘n’ how many deaths will it take till he knows that too many people have died?” and “...how many times can a man turn his head, pretending he just doesn't see?”.
Taking you on a journey from the innocence of childhood, through awakening, anger, and finally, to hope, we aspire to kindle within you the desire to approach your own life with a genuine spirit of listening and learning and to lead with love and compassion.
