Gwen Hyland (Henry)
Gwen Hyland (baritone, she/they) is a frequent collaborator with Paradox Opera, having sung King Melchior in Amahl and the Night Visitors, John Singer in The Heart is a Lonely Hunter, and Don Giovanni in Don Giovanni (Abridged!), which she wrote for its premiere at the Raleigh Fringe Festival in 2024. Gwen has also written the libretto for The Genders of Gybberidge, a madcap magical operetta with music by Vince Gover, which will premiere with PXO in January 2027! Gwen is thrilled to be returning to their musical theater roots in Next to Normal, and has specially prepared herself for this role by experiencing a lifetime of mental illness.
