A message from our Executive Artistic Director:
Especially right now, when so many of us feel so helpless in this world, this is the best way I know to keep fighting. Screaming QUEER ART & QUEER JOY from the rooftops and not letting the oppressors steal that from us. Making bold, loud, joyful, queer art that hopefully will not only spread joy but let people in to our world and maybe convince a few people to think differently about us and our stories. All that being said:
Holy cow, opera is expensive, especially because my mission involves making sure all my artists are paid fair & living wages for their work, and arts funding is essentially non-existent from our government (and we’re super gay so they wouldn’t give it to us anyway). So I come to you again with a wild new fundraising ask/pitch:
MARCH MADNESS! Our goal this month is to hit the $25,000 mark on our global campaign. We’re asking all our amazing friends to join in a little friendly competition for good and to possibly have your name (or whatever name you want) immortalized in this opera FOREVER. Here’s the idea: you’ve got the entire month to fundraise literally however you want, no stress, no schedules, just whatever feels right for you. We have a quartet of supporting characters in the opera that need names, so the top 4 fundraisers at the end of the month will each get to name one! All you need to do if you want to participate and help us out is make sure your new campaign is part of our new team campaign so that you’re on our leaderboard!
Thank you so much for considering; I hope you’ll join us in making some magic happen!
